Designer Tips With Industry Leader Veronica Cockerham:
We recently completed a unique, high-end custom gift basket project designed to welcome a family to their new luxury home, while also celebrating back-to-school for their teens.
To get started, we came up with the idea that we wanted to include everything to enjoy a fresh cooked gourmet meal and then a nice throw to snuggle up and enjoy a glass of wine afterward.
For the housewarming portion, we created a stunning basket featuring a Pottery Barn trunk lined with a luxury throw. This acted as the perfect base that wasn't just regular paper shred. To start their day we added a bag of luxury coffee and coffee sprinkles.
Next preparing for a meal, we started with yellow-themed items like napkins, napkin rings, placemats, wooden utensils and hand carved wooden serving tray. I wanted to have the yellow color throughout because I feel like it brings a fresh happy look to a gift.
Next we added gourmet snacks such as nuts, parmesan crisps, tapenade, high-quality olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. I wanted to include healthy snacks because the recipients prefer a low carb diet.
The basket also featured a thoughtfully curated, low-carb dinner set, including squash noodles, dried mushrooms, San Juan Sea Salt , pasta sauce, Jarlsberg wedge and fresh lemons to continue our yellow theme paired with a bottle of Mark Ryan Pinot Gris. For dessert, we included smoked sea salt caramel chocolates for a sweet finishing touch.
Then as a finishing embellishment we added a bundle of eucalyptus, wrapped the basket with a glitter ivory and silver bow with a champagne satin tie. The perfect final touches for an exquisite design.
The back-to-school baskets for the teenagers were just as exciting to design. Our process, like with most of our projects, started by thinking about what would spark excitement upon opening. After researching trends and consulting a teen in the family, we headed to Bellevue Square. Store employees helped us select top-tier, trending items: a JBL Bluetooth speaker, Lululemon wristlet, and water bottle for the girl; and Nike socks, sneaker care kit, and a Blender Bottle for the boy. We also included laptop benches, digital notebooks, school supplies in trendy colors, movie tickets, and gourmet chocolates, all neatly packaged in a chic storage crate.
The presentation of these gifts was nothing short of fabulous, generating a lot of excitement and appreciation. Designing gift baskets is an art form that can result in beautiful gifts for any occasion. Key elements for a successful design include staying on theme, envisioning how the recipient will use the items, ensuring everything complements each other, and sticking to a cohesive color palette. These factors help create thoughtful, memorable gifts that leave a lasting impression.
